You have questions…
You’ve heard you can plant trees with your email, but aren’t too sure how it all works.
Maybe you’re confused about how Wildhero connects to Gmail. Maybe you’re confused about how we fund trees. Maybe you’re confused by the whole idea!
In this article, we’ll make it crystal clear how Wildhero works, so you can start planting trees with your email.
What is Wildhero?
Wildhero is an app that lets you reforest our planet for free, just by checking your email.
You connect your existing Gmail address to Wildhero, then use the Wildhero app to read, send, and manage your emails.

As you use your email, you’ll start passively funding real tree-planting projects. We fund the trees by showing you optional, anonymous ads for eco-friendly brands.
Even though we show ads, we care about your privacy. We don’t share or sell your data to anyone.
How do the ads work?
Within your inbox, we’ll show you subtle advertisements. They’ll slot in with the rest of your emails, but they will say explicitly that they are an ad.

We designed them not to bother you, and we keep them to a minimum. You’ll see about 1 ad for every 50 emails you receive.
They’re also completely optional, but we encourage you to leave them on to help plant trees!
How does connecting to Gmail work?
Great question! To understand how we connect to Gmail, it might help to start with an app you’re already familiar with.
We’re like Apple’s Mail App
Mail comes pre-downloaded on all iPhones. With it, you can read, access, and manage your emails from different providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook.

When you’re setting up an Apple device for the first time, the Mail app prompts you to connect a mail provider. For this example, let’s use Gmail.
Once you connect, Google will sync your inbox to the Mail app. This lets you read, view, and send your emails from the Mail app. You’re still using your Gmail inbox & address, but you’re now managing it in Apple’s app.
Wildhero works the exact same way. You download the Wildhero app, connect it to your Gmail inbox, then use the Wildhero app to read, access, and manage your emails!
Gmail & Wildhero
Like Apple Mail, Wildhero is its own app. It’s not a Gmail extension or add-on. You’ll use Wildhero as the home base for your emails on your phone, instead of the Gmail or Apple Mail app.

You’ll start by downloading the app, then connect your Google account. When you do this, Google will sync your Gmail inbox to the Wildhero app. After that’s done, you can use the Wildhero app to manage your emails.
Everything under the hood is Gmail. You’re still using your existing Gmail address to send and receive emails. However, you’ll be viewing your Gmail account through the Wildhero app, which gives you climate benefits!
Does it look different from the Gmail app?
Nope! We’ve designed the app to give you the exact same experience as Gmail. The only major difference is that you will have a tree-counter at the top!
Passively reforest our planet…
With Wildhero, we can show you anonymous ads that fund trees, calculate your junk email’s carbon, and add your trees to the tree-counter!
You don’t have to do anything fancy, just use Wildhero app to check and send daily emails.
As you do, you’ll start real life tree-planting and watch your impact grow. It’s that simple!
